Answer:

Value of x is - 25 / 8 and y is 13 / 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

        y = - 2x - 3

Other equation, 5y + 2x = 10

On observing, we get that the other equation have y, so

Substituting( = putting ) the value of y :

= >  5y + 2x = 10

= >  5( - 2x - 3 ) + 2x = 10

= >  -10x - 15 + 2x = 10

= >  - 10x + 2x - 15 = 10

= >  - 8x - 15 = 10

= >  - 15 - 10 = 8x

= >  - 25 = 8x

= >  - 25 / 8 = x

Now, substitute the value of x in y = - 2x - 3

= >  y = - 2( - 25 / 8 ) - 3

= >  y = 25 / 4 - 3

= >  y = ( 25 - 12 ) / 4

= >  y = 13 / 4
