let one digit of the two digit number be x

then the other digit = 3x

The original number = 10x + 3x

the number with interchanged digits = 30x + x

Adding these two numbers =

13x + 31x = 88

44 x = 88

x = 2

The original number = 10 (2) + 3(2)

= 20 + 6 = 26
