Pedro de Mendez was the captain of the ship that picked up Gulliver , after he was asked to leave Houyhnmland. He was a courteous, kind-hearted ,patient, generous and a sensible gentleman who proved to be instrumental in coaxing Gulliver to return to his native land and family.
Despite Gulliver's sullenlness , he offered him good food and drink and a clean bed. He made Gulliver to talk about his adventures and experiences . Despite the stories sounding so incredible , he believed in their veracity.
