Explanation:

a.) Weight of the object in air = 5 Kg - 2 Kg = 3 Kg

b.) Weight of the object in water = 5 Kg + 2 Kg = 7 Kg

c.) Buoyant Force = Fb = Vs × D × g = 5 × 2 × 5 = 50 Fb

d.) Weight of the water displaced by the stone = 3 Kg

e.) Buoyant force is equal to weight of liquid displaced.

Answer:

a) Weight of the object in Air is nothing but the weight when the object is not immersed in water. According to the diagram, the weight of the object is 5 kg

b) When the object is immersed in water, there is a buoyant force exerted by the water on this object. Due to this, the object feels to be of less weight in water compared to that in air.

According to the diagram, the buoyant force is equivalent of displacing 2 kg. Hence the weight of the object in water would be:

⇒ Original Weight - Weight due to Buoyant Force = 5 - 2 = 3 kg

c) Buoyant Force is given by the formula, B = -mg. According to the diagram, the mass (m) is 2 kg and g = 10 m/s². Hence the Buoyant force is:

⇒ Buoyant Force = - 2 × 10 = -20 N

d) According to Archimedes Principle, it states that whenever an object is immersed in water, an upward force called Buoyant Force acts in the opposite direction of the object causing a displacement of some amount of water. The displacement of the water is equal to the magnitude of the Buoyant force.

⇒ Wt. of Water displaced by the object = Magnitude of Buoyant Force

⇒ Water Displaced = 20 N

⇒ Weight of Water Displaced = 20 N / 10 m/s² = 2kg.

e) Weight of the water displaced = Magnitude of Buoyant Force.

This is the required relation.
