Explanation:

Silk is formed of animal protein secretion of silkworms. Hence , when burnt it smells like hair , which is also composed of animal protein.thus the first saree is of pure silk.

Cotton is a natural fiber. It burns quickly with a yellow flame and an afterglow. It smells like paper burning and the ash is light and gray. so the second saree is of pure cotton.
