Given :-
- A cuboidal oil tin is 30 cm by 40 cm by 15 cm.
To find :-
- Find the cost of the tin required for making 20 tins if the cost of tin sheet is 20 per square metre.
Solution :-
★ 1m = 100cm ★
- Length of cuboidal oil tin = 30 cm = 30/100 = 0.3 m
- Breadth of cuboidal oil tin = 40 cm= 40/100 = 0.4 m
- Height of cuboidal oil tin = 50 cm = 50/100 = 0.5 m
Total surface area of cuboidal tin
→ 2(lb + bh + lh)
→ 2(0.3 × 0.4 + 0.4 × 0.5 + 0.3 × 0.5)
→ 2(0.12 + 0.2 + 0.15)
→ 2(0.32 + 0.15)
→ 2 × 0.47
→ 0.94 m²
Now, area of 20 tins
→ 20 × 0.94 = 18.8m²
The cost of tin sheet is 20 per square metre.
→ Total cost for making 20 tins
→ 18.8 × 20
→ Rs.376
Therefore,
- Total cost = Rs.376

ɢɪᴠᴇɴ:-
- A cuboidal oil tin with measures 30 cm by 40 cm by 15 cm
ᴛᴏ ғɪɴᴅ:-
- The cost of the tin required for making 20 tins if the cost of tin sheet is 20 per square
ᴇxᴘʟᴀɴᴀᴛɪᴏɴ:-
The cost of the tins depend upon their total surface area . It is given that a tin is in the shape of a cuboid such that:-
Surface area of one tin:
Now, we have to convert cm into m
Now,
Cost of 1 sq. m of tin sheet = Rs 20
∴ Cost of 18.8 m² of tin sheet ==Rs376
Hence, the cost of making 20 tins = Rs 376
