 \frac{4}{k + 2}  =  \frac{x}{3}  \\ 12 = x(k + 2) \\ 12 = kx+ 2x\\ 12 - 2x = kx \\  \frac{12 - 2x}{x}  = k \\ k = \frac{12 - 2x}{x}

Therefore, Option (a) is correct
