EPOC, also termed as Excess Post Exercise Oxygen Consumption is the excessive amount of oxygen consumed for burning calories. EPOC, however is influenced by the intensity, not the duration of exercise.

But, according to the question, during intermittent work, the relationship between metabolism and Excess post-exercise oxygen consumption is :

The body expends approximately 5 calories of energy (a calorie is the amount of energy required to heat 1 liter of water 1 degree centigrade) to consume 1 liter of oxygen.
