As you can see, in this molecule, an amine group (NH2) is present along with the carbonyl group (C=O), so this molecule will be an amide an the suffix will be -amide.

A phenyl group is attached to the nitrogen atom as well on the other side, so the nitrogen atom is attached to two other carbon atoms, so it is a 2 degree amide or a secondary amide.

The longest carbon chain consists of two carbon atoms, so the root word of the IUPAC name will be ethan .

So, the systematic IUPAC name will be N-Phenylethanamide .

Also, the COCH3 group is also known as the acetyl group.

So, the IUPAC name can also be N-Phenylacetamide .

But, the preferred name for this compound is simply Acetanilide .
