Photosynthesis, the process by which green  and certain other organisms transform light energy into chemical energy. During photosynthesis in green plants, light energy is captured and used to convert water carbon dioxide, and minerals into oxygen and energy-rich organic compounds.

rahulraman: thank you friend, but I asked for an answer in detail.

green plants manufacture food through the process of photosynthesis. in this process the food is synthesised in the form of glucose in the presence of sunlight, water and carbon dioxide . green plants contain the pigment chlorophyll that traps sunlight. water is broken down into hydrogen and oxygen with the help of sunlight. carbon dioxide combines with hydrogen and oxygen to form glucose.
