Answer:

case 1)

a= v+u/t

= 8-0/40

=8/40

a1= 1/5

a1= 0.2ms^-2

case 2)

a=v+u/t

= 5-8/5

=-3/5

a2 =-0.6ms^-2

a2 is in negative as it is the declaration, as the brakes are applies.

1st case:-

Given:-

•Initial velocity(u)=0

•Final velocity(v)=8m/s

•Time(t)=40s

To find:-

•Acceleration(a)

Solution:-

We know that----

=>a=v-u/t

=>a=8-0/40

=>a=8/40

=>a=1/5

=>a=0.2m/s²

2nd Case:-

Given:-

•Initial velocity(u)=8m/s

•Final velocity(v)=5m/s

•Time(t)=5s

To find:-

•Acceleration(a)

Solution:-

We know that-----

=>a=v-u/t

=>a=5-8/5

=>a= -3/5

=>a= -0.6m/s²

Thus acceleration is----

i.0.2m/s² in 1st case

ii. -0.6m/s² in 2nd case.
