A mountain climber is sliding down a vertical rope her total mass including the equipment is 65 kgs by adjusting the friction on the road chip controls the tension force on the Rope as a function of time is shown in the figure the speed of the mountaineer at the end of 2 seconds if she starts from rest is

As we know,area under force time graph gives impulse,coz,impulse is the product of force and velocity

impulse=f×t =ma×t

we know,a =(v-u)/t

putting this,we get

impulse=mv-mu

Impulse=Change in momentum

Now, let's move on question

here

First case:-

Initial velocity (u)=0

final velocitty at time 0.2 sec I=V(say)

mass=65kg

area under the first triangle=change in momentum upto time 0.2s

mv-mu=1/2 ×0.2××325

mv=32.5

v=32.5/65

v=.5m/s

Second case:-

Velocity at 0.2s(u)=0.5

final velocity=V(say)

change in momentum=area of second triangle

mv-mu=1/2 ×1.8×325. (taking velocity at 2sec be v)

65(v-0.5)=4.5

v-0.5=45/65

v=0.7+0.5

v=1.2m/s

Hence the velocity after 2s will be 1.2m/s

{hope it helps you}
