Then,

3 - x \7 - x = 2 \5

(ratio is expressed here....)

15-5x=14-2x

(cross multiplication)

3x = 1

By taking like terms one side

X = 1\3

That is,

1\3 subtracted from each term on the ration 3:7 so it becomes 2:5
