DIRECT TO INDIRECT SPEECH

1. The woman told her husband that she met the boy on the road that day.

2. He told that he liked sweets.

3. Father told that the sun rises in the east.

4. The traveller tells that he is tired.

5. I told that I have done my homework.

6. He asked that who lives the next door.

7. He told that he took that home with him.

8. I told him that he hadn't been kept fit last week.

9. He asked me whether I know him.

10. He asked me whether it was raining heavily at that place last month.

Changes in Person of Pronouns:

  • 1st Person pronouns in reported speech are always changed according to the subject of the reporting speech.

  • 2nd Person pronouns in reported speech are always changed according to the object of the reporting speech.

  • 3rd Person pronouns in reported speech are not changed.
