Answer:

15 cm and 20 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Hypotenuse of triangle = 25cm

Difference between lengths of other two sides = 5cm

Let second side (base) = x

third side second side = 5

So we have,

third side (perpendicular)= 5 +x

We know ,

according to Pythagoras theorem, the square of hypotenuse is equal to sum of squares of other two sides of triangle.

So (hypotenuse)² = (perpendicular)² + (base)²

(25)² = (5+x)² + (x)²

625 = 25 + + 10x +

2x² + 10x +25 625 = 0

2x² + 10x 600 = 0

+ 5x 300 = 0

15x + 20x 300 = 0

x ( x–15) + 20 (x–15) = 0

(x– 15) (x+20) = 0

thus x= 15 , 20

as length cannot be negative

we take x= 15

and third side = 15+5 = 20

So required sides are 15cm and 20cm
