On basis of size

Large scale- Big industries with huge employees. Huge capital investments, above 1 crore.

Small scale- Medium industries with employees less than large scale. Capital investment is less than 1 crore.

Cottage industries- Done within home along with family members with negligible capital investment.

On basis of raw materials

Heavy industries- Raw materials and products weights are heavy

Light industries- Raw materials and products weights are light

On basis of ownership

Private sector- owned and managed by government

Public sector- Owned and managed by an individual

Cooperative sector- Owned and managed by a group of a particular society with coordination of producers and sellers

joint sector-Owned and managed by government and private entrepreneurs jointly.
