it's there because when we take hcf by prime factorization of any number we take the numbers that are common in all the factorization and we multiply that numbers to get the highest common factor.
for example in the above picture the common numbers are 2^2 and 3 so we multiply them
=4*3=12
and therefore 12 is the hcf of the numbers mentioned in the picture
