Hope it helps u...!!

The intercostal muscles between our ribs also helps inlarge the chest cavity. They contract to pull our rib cage both upward and outward when we inhale. As our lungs expand, air (oxygen) is sucked in through our nose or mouth. The wind (oxygen) goes down through our windpipe and reaches the lungs.

Best Wishes Friend...!!
