Alkanes are paraffins which means the bonds are complete in the covalent bond and it has only single bond due to which maximum no. of H2 are present which can't add more H2 in addition reaction.
But in other cases like alkenes and alkynes, they have double and triple bond which may break in addition reaction to accommodate more H2 .
