Answer:

Me: Vidya, I heard that you were going to compete in the nationals? Congratulations!

Vidya: Yes, but I'm feeling nervous and afraid....

Me: Oh no. Why?

Vidya: I mean... it's nationals! What if I mess up? What if I don't put on a good performance? So many people will see that and it would be so embarrassing! I'm scared...

Me:  Oh, Vidya. It's going to be okay, I'm sure! You've come this far, haven't you? It's your hard work that has gotten you this far, and I believe that you can do it. Having fears is okay; everybody has them. But instead of letting it bring you down, how about using it as a motivation to be even better and practice more so that when nationals come, you'll be able to perform your part perfectly? I know you can do it; if anyone can, it's you. Just believe in yourself, girl, and hold your head up high! There's no reason to weep, because if you do, it's like you're already giving up, like you're already handing your opponents the victory. But don't you think it'd be better if you at least gave it your all? That way, no matter what happens, you'll be satisfied because you gave your best. You did everything that you could. Doesn't it sound better?

Vidya: You're right... sulking here and being afraid won't help me. Thank you for your advice! I feel so much better now.
