Question :-

  \red{{(x  - 5)}^{2}  - (x + 2) =  - 2}

Answer :-

 \implies \boxed{\:x \:  =  \frac{23}{14} }

Formula used :-

 \implies \boxed{  {(x + y)}^{2}  =  {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  + 2xy}

Explanation :-

  {(x  - 5)}^{2}  -  {(x + 2)}^{2}  =  - 2 \\  \\  \small \:  {x}^{2}  + 25 - 10x -  \big( {x}^{2}  + 4 + 4x \big) =  - 2 \\  \\  \small \:   \implies \: \: 25 - 10x - 4 - 4x =  - 2 \\  \\  \implies \:  - 14x =  - 2 - 21 \\  \\  \implies \:  - 14x =  - 23 \\  \\  \implies \:  \boxed{x \:  =  \frac{23}{14} }
