ABC is an isosceles
AB = AC
BD is perpendicular to AC
To prove,
BD^2 - CD^2 = 2CD.AD
Proof,
In ABD,
AB^2 = BD^2 + AD^2
AC^2 = BD^2 + AD^2 ( AB = AC )
( AD + DC ) = BD^2 + AD^2
AD^2 + DC^2 + 2AD.DC = BD^2 + AD^2
AD^2 will be cancel from both the sides
2CD.AD = BD^2 - CD^2
PROVED
