(i)Total number of possible outcomes = 20
Number of favourable outcomes = 4
Hence, P (getting a defective bulb) = 4/20 = 1/5
(ii) Total number of possible outcomes = 20-1 = 19
Favourable outcomes = 19- 4= 15
P (not getting a defective bulb) = 15/19

Hope it helps!

pranjal7: Now also I have not understood 2 part
pranjal7: How 19 possible outcomes
pranjal7: Means why 19 possible outcomes
MilitheQUORAN: see in 1st part one bulb was picked...suppose tht it was not defective and it was not replaced ...means usse hamne vapis nahi rakha ..th the total no. of oucomes = 20 - that non defective bulb =19
MilitheQUORAN: hope u understand now
pranjal7: Yes
MilitheQUORAN: also the bulb was from the non defective category so 1 bulb will be subtracted from initial no. of non defective bulbs
MilitheQUORAN: Understood??
pranjal7: Yes
pranjal7: Thanks
