The old man is surprised to find the money to be exactly three times the amount written in the cheque. What is the original cheque amount?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

100y+x-358=300x+3y

y=299x+358/97

Get x as 28 as 97 nearest multiple 291 hence 291x+8x+358/97

Hence 291x/97 + 8x+358/97

Thus get x = 28 calculating 8x+358 as divisible by nearest multiple 97x6

Hence y = 90

Ans will be 28.90
