Answer:
Let the equal sides of isosceles triangle be x cm
By using Pythagoras theorem:
(AC)2 = (AB)2 + (BC)2
⇒ 122 = x2 + x2
⇒ 144 = 2x2
⇒ 72 = x2
⇒ x = √72
⇒ x = 6√2 cm
AB = BC = 6√2 cm
Area of triangle = 1/2 × Base × Height
⇒ Area = 1/2 × AB × BC
⇒ Area = 1/2 × 6√2 × 6√2
⇒ Area = 36 sq. cm
∴ Area of isosceles triangle is 36 sq. cm.
