1.a)2x + 3y = 13

     17x - 11y = 8

now, by subsitution method

equation 1 -> 2x + 3y = 13

equation 2 -> 17x - 11y = 8

from equation 1,

2x + 3y =13

2x = 13 - 3y

x = 13 - 3y/2 ----> equation 3

now subsi. eq.3 in eq.2

17(13 - 3y /2) - 11y = 8

221 - 51y/2 - 11y = 8

221 - 51y -22y /2 = 8

221 - 73y= 16

-73y = -205

y= 205/75 = 41/15 ----> eq.4

now subsi. eq.4 in eq.3

x = 13 - 41/15 / 2

x=308/15

so, x=305/15 and y = 41/15
