Answer:

x = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

4/(x+1) + 5/(x+3)

= [4(x+3) + 5(x+1)] / (x+1)(x+3)

= (4x+12+5x+5)/ (x+1)(x+3)

= (9x+17)/ (x+1)(x+3)

which in turn is 9/(x + 2)

so, (9x+17)/ (x+1)(x+3) = 9/(x + 2)

=> (9x+17)(x + 2) = 9(x+1)(x+3)

=> 9x^2 + 18x + 17x + 34 = 9(x^2+3x+x+3)

=> 9x^2 + 35x + 34 = 9x^2+36x+27

=> 36x-35x = 34-27

=> x = 7
