$\frac{7x + 1}{2} + \frac{x - 1}{3} = 5 \\ \\ \frac{3(7x + 1) + 2(x - 1)}{6} = 5 \\ \\ \frac{21x + 3 + 2x - 2}{6} = 5 \\ \\ 23x + 1 = 30 \\ \\ 23 x = 30 - 1 \\ \\ 23x = 29 \\ \\ x = \frac{29}{23}$
