Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

The cost of one shirt is Rs. 50 more than twice the cost of a t-shirt .

To find :-

Write the linear equation in two variables for the given situation ,assuming that the cost of a shirt is Rs. x and that of a t-shirt is Rs. y?

Solution :-

Let the cost of one shirt be Rs. x

Let the cost of one t-shirt be Rs. y

Given that

The cost of one shirt is Rs. 50 more than twice the cost of a t-shirt .

Cost of one shirt = 2× Cost of t-shirt + 50

=> x = 2×y +50

=> x = 2y+50

=> x-2y-50 = 0

Answer :-

The required linear equation in two variables is x-2y-50 = 0

Points to know:-

  • An equation of the degree is 1 is called a linear equation.
  • A linear equation has two variables is called a linear equation in two variables
  • The standard linear equation in two variables is ax+by+c = 0
