to find what should be added divide it by given eq i.e x^2+2x - 3  .....eq(2)

we get

(x^4 + 2x^3 - 2x^2 +x-1)/x^2+2x-3 we get

1+(x+2)/x^2 + 2x-3

what we see is that x=2 is the reminder and when dividing we see that if (x-2) is added thin the eq(1) will be completely divided by eq(2) giving the resultant of (x+2)
