Exercise 4.2
Q1.c)infinitely many solutions because

for every value of x,there is value for y satisfying the above equation and vice-versa.
Q2.(i)2x+y=7
y=7-2x

put x=0,y=7-2*0=7-0=7
put x=1,y=7-2*1=7-2=5
put x=2,y=7-2*2=7-4=3
put x=3,y=7-2*3=7-6=1

Therefore,the 4 solutions of
the given equation are (0,7),
(1,5),(2,3),(3,1)

(ii)pie x+y=9
y=9-pie x

put x=0,y=9-pie * 0=9
put x=1,y=9- pie*1=9-pie
put x=2,y=9-pie*2=9-2pie
put x=3,y=9-3*pie=9-3pie

Therefore,the 4 solutions of
the given equation are(0,9),
(1,9-pie),(2,9-2pie),(3,9-3pie)

(iii) x=4y

put x=0,y=4*0=0
put x=1,y=4*1=4
put x=2,y=4*2=8
put x=3,y=4*3=12

Therefore,the 4 solutions of the
given equation are (0,0),(1,4),
(2,8),3,12)

Q3(i) (0,2)

x-2y=4

putting x=0,y=2 in LHS

LHS=x-2y0-2*2
=0-2*2=-4
LHS is not equal to RHS
Therefore,(0,2) is not a solution tif the given equation.

(ii) (2,0)

putting x=2,y=0 in LHS

LHS=x-2y
=2-2*0=2
LHS is not equal to RHS

(2,0) is not a solution of the
given equation.
