Answer : x = 119 & y = 147

Solution :

Given that :

x = 3k + 5, and

y = 4k - 5

Also given the linear equation :

5x - 4y = 7 ....(1)

Now, On putting the value of x and y in equation (1) :

5(3k + 5) - 4(4k - 5) = 7

=> 15k + 25 - 16k + 20 = 7

=> 16k - 15k = 25 + 20 - 7

=> k = 38

On putting the value of k for x and y :

(a) x = 3k + 5

=> x = 3 × 38 + 5

=> x = 119

(b) y = 4k - 5

=> y = 4 × 38 - 5

=> y = 147

I hope it will be helpful for you ☺️

Answer:

Here is your answer

Step-by-step explanation:

putting value of x and y In given linear eqn.

5x - 4y = 7

5 ( 3k + 5 ) - 4 ( 4k - 5 ) = 7

now just multiply the terms with no.

15k + 25 - 16k - 20 = 7

-1k - 5 = 7

-1k = 7 + 5

-k = 12

k = -12

putting value of k in both eqn. to get x and y .

x = 3k + 5

= 3 × -12 + 5

= -36 + 5

= -31

y = 4k - 5

= 4× -12 - 5

= -48 - 5

= -53

:. hence proved
