0.5m of NaOH means 0.5 moles of NaOH I.e. 20 grams of NaOH is dissolved in 1 kg of solvent and 0.5M of NaOH means 0.5 moles of NaOH is dissolved in 1 litre of solvent. There is a difference of molality and molarity. M is molarity and m is molarity.
