let 1/(x-1) = A & 1/(y-2) = B,

then the equations becomes

5A+B=2 ------------------eq(1), × 3

6A-3B=1 ----------------eq(2),

15A+3B=6,

6A-3B=1,

+ + +

(15A+6A) =(6+1),

21A=7,

A=7/21,

A=1/3,

put this value of A in eq(1), We get

5×1/3 + B =2,

5/3 + B=2,

B=2-5/3,

B=(6-5)/3,

B=1/3,

since

A=1/3,

1/(x-1) = 1/3,

3=x-1,

then

x=3+1=4,

since

B=1/3,

1/(y-2) = 1/3,

3=y-2,

then

y=3+2=5
