Q Name the technique by which these mixture can be separate -

1. Sand and water - {\underline{\tt{\green{Filtration }}}}

  • Filtration is the process of separating solid state from any liquid by filter. The filter only allows liquid substances but not any solid state.

2. Salt and water - {\underline{\tt{\green{ Distillation}}}}

  • Distillation is the process of separating mixture of two substances (one liquid and one solid) by boiling.

3. Ammonium chloride and Sodium chloride - {\underline{\tt{\green{Sublimation}}}}

  • Sublimation process can be done in two solid substances. The sublimation is the process in which solid state directly changes into gaseous state without going through liquid state.

4. Iron and sulphur - {\underline{\tt{\green{Magnetic\:separation}}}}

  • Magnetic separation is the process of separating two components of mixture by using magnet. The magnet attracts metals and it separate it through another substance.

5. Oil and water - {\underline{\tt{\green{Decantation}}}}

  • Decantation is the process of separating any two mixture of liquid by removing the top layer of any one substances.

The common example of Decantation are oil and water, Vinegar and water.
