Area of trapezium

= 1/2 × h ( sum of parallel sides)

height = 280 cm = 2.8 m

so

4.2 = 1/ 2 × 2.8 × ( a + b )

4.2 × 2 = 2.8 × ( a + b )

8.4 / 2.8 = ( a + b )

3 = ( a +b)

sum of parallel sides = ( a +b ) = 3

hope it helps
