Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

(\frac{1}{2} )^2 would be the same as \frac{1}{2} *\frac{1}{2} which equals \frac{1}{4}. (\frac{1}{4} )^3 would be the same as \frac{1}{4} *\frac{1}{4} *\frac{1}{4} which equals \frac{1}{64}. To substract \frac{1}{4} from \frac{1}{64} you have to expand \frac{1}{4} with 16 which will then become \frac{16}{64}. Now that the denominators are equal (64) you can easily subtract these two numbers and get the answer \frac{15}{64}. Now you have to multiply it with 2^3 which equals 8 (2x2x2).

The second one (ii) can also be solved the same way. \frac{3}{4} *\frac{3}{4} =\frac{9}{16}. \frac{2}{3} *\frac{2}{3} *\frac{2}{3} = \frac{8}{27}. \frac{1}{2} * \frac{1}{2} = \frac{1}{4}. As you have to multiply these three numbers, the denominator does NOT have to be the same as in the first one (i). \frac{9}{16} *\frac{8}{27} *\frac{1}{4} = \frac{9*8*1}{16*27*4}. And that would equal: \frac{72}{1728}.

I hope it helps. Have a nice day! {Brainliest would help me reach next rank :)}
