For real and distinct roots taking discriminant to be zero then by the formula D equal B square minus 4 AC we get

D=(-2(k-1))^2 -4(4)(4)

0=4(k^2+1-2k) - 64

0=4(k^2+1-2k-16)

0=k^2-2k-15

0=k^2+3k-5k-15

0=k(k+3)-5(k+3)

0=(k+3)(k-5)

Therefore

k=5,-3
