Step-by-step explanation:

Given -

2x + x-y/6 = 2

x - 2x+y/3 = 1

To Find -

Value of x and y

Now,

→ 2x + x-y/6 = 2

→ 12x + x - y/6 = 2

→ 13x - y = 12 ..... (i)

And

→ x - 2x+y/3 = 1

→ 3x - 2x + y/3 = 1

→ x + y = 3 ...... (ii)

Now,

Solving (i) and (ii) :-

→ 13x - y = 12

x + y = 3

__________

→ 14x = 15

→ x = 15/14

Now,

Substituting the value of x on x + y = 3, we get :-

→ y = 3 - 15/14

→ y = 42 - 15/14

→ y = 27/14

Hence,

The value of x is 15/14 and y is 27/14.

Verification :-

  • 13x - y = 12

→ 13(15/14) - 27/14 = 12

→ 195/14 - 27/14 = 12

→ 195-27/14 = 12

→ 168/14 = 12

→ 12 = 12

LHS = RHS

And

  • x + y = 3

→ 15/14 + 27/14 = 3

→ 15+27/14 = 3

→ 42/14 = 3

→ 3 = 3

LHS = RHS

Hence,

Verified...

It shows that our answer is absolutely correct.
