Answer- The above question is from the chapter 'Simple Equations'.

Given question: In a school, there are 420 students. If \frac{5}{7} of the students are girls, how many boys are there in the school.

Solution: Total number of students = 420

⇒ Number of boys + Number of girls = 420 --- (1)

Let number of girls be x.

According to the question, \frac{5}{7} × 420 = x

\implies x = \dfrac{5}{7} \times 420\\\\x = 5 \times 60\\x= 300

∴ Number of girls = 300

Put the value of number of girls in equation 1, we get,

300 + Number of boys = 420

Number of boys = 420 - 300

Number of boys = 120

∴ Number of boys = 120.
