A sum of money becomes Rs. 2240 at the rate of S.I. in 2 years and Rs. 2600 in 5 years. Find the sum.

$\sf\mapsto{= 2240 ---------1}$

$\sf\mapsto\red{Principal + interest~ for ~5 years}$

$\sf\mapsto{ = 2600 --------2}$

$\sf\purple{Subtracting ~1~ from ~2 }$

$\sf\mapsto{ 2600 - 2240 = 360}$

$\sf\mapsto{Interest for three years = 360}$

So interest for 1 year

$\sf\mapsto\dfrac{360}{3}{=120}$

$\sf\mapsto\blue{Interest ~for ~2 ~years }$

$\sf\mapsto{ 2 x 120 = 240}$

Principal for 2 years $\sf{= 2240}$

Interest for 2 years =$\sf{ 240}$
