Ustad Bismillah Khan was born on 21 March 1916 at Dumraon, Shahbad, Bihar.His real name was QAMRUDDIN KHAN often referred by the tittle Ustad.
He was an Indian musician specialised at SHEHNAI, a subcontinental wind instrument of the oboe class.
He was awarded with India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 2001, becoming the third classical musician after M. S. Subbalakshmi and Ravi Shankar.
Bismillah Khan has played SHEHNAI in many blockbuster movies.
He has been awarded with many other awards including Padma Shri in 1961, Padma Bhushan in 1968,Padma Vibhushan in 1980, and many others.
He died on 21 August 2006 at the age of 90 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India...
