→ As we go higher, you might think the sun is getting closer so we can get more heat. This is false. The atmospheric conditions when we go higher is very cold. So, high mountains are covered with snow. Thus,The higher we go the cooler we get.

Place near the poles are warmer than place near the equator. - No

Why?

→ The regions near the poles doesn't receive much sunlight and they are very cold. Life existence is also rare. And in equatorial area, the sunlight heat directly the region. So it is very hot there.
