please solve Q14 of Linear equationsin one variable

7x+8y=87      [1]

6x+4y=66    multiply this eqn by 2

12x+8y=132    [2]


eqn [1]-[2]

-5x=-45

x=9

substitute x=9 in eqn[2]

6*9+4y=66

54+4y=66

4y=12

y=3


suhanisaxena112: can I ask why did u multiply 2 in 2 nd equation
parvamadhu1806: so that you can cancel 8y from both the equations by subtracting...
