therefore,

time spent watching tv

= 14/14 - (2/7 + 3/14)

= 14/14 - (4/14+3/14)

= 14/14 - [ (4+3) / 14]

= 14/14 - 7/14

= (14-7) / 14

= 7/14

= 1/2
