Solution:-

4p + 3q = 14 .......(i)eq

3p - 4q = 23 ........(ii) eq

Substitute the (i)st equation, we get

4p + 3q = 14

4p = 14 - 3q

p =  \frac{14 - 3q}{4}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: ( \bf \: i ii\:)eq

Now put the value of p on (ii) eq we get

3( \frac{14 - 3q}{4} ) - 4q = 23

 \frac{42 - 9q}{4}  - 4q \:  =  \: 23

Take a lcm

 \frac{42 - 9q - 16q}{ 4}  = 23

Use cross multiplication, we get

42 - 25q = 92

 - 25q = 50

q =  \frac{ - 50}{25}

q =  - 2

Now put the value of q on i st equation

4p + 3q = 14

4p + 3 × ( - 2) = 14

4p - 6 = 14

4p = 20

p = 5

Answer:- p= 5 and q = - 2
