\textbf{Answer :}

Given that,

a² + b² = 225 ...(i)

ab = 100 ...(ii)

Now, (i) can be written as

(a + b)² - 2ab = 225

or, (a + b)² = 225 + (2 × 100)

or, (a + b)² = 225 + 200

or, (a + b)² = 425

or, (a + b)² = (5√17)²

or, a + b = ± 5√17

Therefore, \bold{a + b = ± 5\sqrt{17}}

Also, (i) can be written as

(a - b)² + 2ab = 225

or, (a - b)² = 225 - (2 × 100)

or, (a - b)² = 225 - 200 = 25

or, (a - b)² = 5²

or, a - b = ± 5

Therefore, \bold{a - b = ± 5}
