Answer:

Given :

\sf{Number\:of\:students\:above\:average=\dfrac{1}{6}}

\sf{Number\:of\:students\:who\:are\:average=\dfrac{1}{4}}

\sf{Rest\:are\:below\:average}

\sf{Total\:number\:of\:students\:in\:all=48}

To find :

\textsf{Number of students below average }

Concept :

First fo the sum of the above average students with the average students . Then , multiply the sum with total number of students in all . After that subtract it with number of students in all .

So , now the equation will form like this :

\sf{\boxed{48\times(\dfrac{1}{6}+\dfrac{1}{4})}}

Solution :

\sf{\implies{48\times(\dfrac{1}{6}+\dfrac{1}{4})}}

L.C.M of 6 and 4 is 12 .

\sf{\implies{48\times(\dfrac{2+3}{12})}}

\sf{\implies{\cancel{48}\times\dfrac{5}{\cancel{12}}}}

\sf{\implies{4\times5}}

\sf{\implies{20\:students}}

So , total number of students who are above average and average are 20 students .

Now , number of students who are below average -:

\sf{\implies{48-20\:students}}

\sf{\implies{28\:students}}

In fraction :

\sf{\implies{\dfrac{5}{12}=\dfrac{12-5}{12}}}

\sf{\implies{\dfrac{7}{12}\:students}}

Answer :

So , number of students which are below average are -:

In number :

\sf{\implies{28 students }}

In fraction :

\sf{\implies{\dfrac{7}{12}\:students}}
