Area of bigger square = 10² = 100cm²
Area of the 4 smaller squares = 4 * 1² = 4 cm²
Area of shaded region = Area of bigger square - Area of the small 4 squares
=>100 - 4 = 96 cm²

here area of a square is = side× side
= 10 × 10
= (100) cm square
and there are 4 smaller square
area of 4 square = 4 × side × side
= 4 × 1 × 1
= 4 cm square
now area of shaded region = total area - area of 4 squares
= 100-4
= 96 cm square
hence found.☺️
