Answer:

3) Number = 27

4) Number = 12

Step-by-step explanation:

3) Let the digits of the number = x, y

Given that x + y = 9 _____(1)

Number = 10x + y (the algebraic form of any two digit number is 10x+y)

Number got by reversing the digits = 10y+x

Given that, 3(10x+y)-9 = 10y+x

30x+3y-9 = 10y+x

30x - x - 9 = 10y - 3y

29x - 9 = 7y

ie, 29x - 7y = 9 _____(2)

(2) + (1) = (29x - 7y) + (x + y) = 9 - 9

Multiply (1) by 7 to get the same number with coefficient y in (2)

ie, (29x - 7y) + (7x + 7y) = (7 × 9)+9 = 63 + 9

36x = 72

x = 72 ÷ 36 = 2

Substituting the value of x in (1), we get,

2 + y = 9

y = 9 - 2 = 7

Therefore the number = 27

4) Let the digits = x, y

Sum of digits = x + y = 3 ____(1)

Number = 10x + y

Number got by reversing the digits = 10y+x

Given that, 7(10x+y) = 4(10y+x)

70x + 7y = 40y + 4x

70x - 4x = 40y - 7y

66x = 33y

2x = y (dividing by 33)

x = y/2 _____(2)

Substituting the value of x in (1), we get,

(y/2)+y = 3

(y/2)+(2y/2) = 3

(3y)/2 = 3

3y = 3 × 2 = 6

y = 6 ÷ 3 = 2

Substituting the value of y in (1), we get,

x + 2 = 3

x = 3 - 2 = 1

Therefore the Number = 12
